University of Maine

University of Maine is a public research university based in Orono, Maine. Carnegie’s 2025 Research Activity Designations place the institution in the R1 group for very high research spending and doctorate production. Its official website brings together academic programs, admissions, research and library resources.

The University of Maine is included in the New England Commission of Higher Education’s system-level accreditation of the University of Maine System. NECHE’s campus record explicitly identifies this arrangement rather than a separate independent campus certificate. The Orono university website remains the entry point for its academic programs, research, campus information and student services. Applicants can follow the relevant academic unit for degree requirements, admissions procedures, costs and any additional professional accreditation.
